From Birmingham schoolboys to international stars, Musical Youth made their mark on music history with “Pass the Dutchie”. Released in 1982, the song reached Number One in the UK and the US Top Ten, introducing their youthful reggae sound to audiences around the world.

Formed in 1979, the band went on to release favourites including “Youth of Today” and “Never Gonna Give You Up”, alongside their collaboration with Donna Summer, “Unconditional Love”. Their blend of Jamaican rhythms, memorable melodies and youthful spirit helped bring reggae into the pop mainstream.

At One Drop, get ready to celebrate a much-loved chapter of British reggae history, with familiar tunes, warm festival vibes and a “Pass the Dutchie” singalong beside the Humber Bridge.

Musical Youth

The Birmingham reggae favourites behind “Pass the Dutchie”, bringing timeless tunes, infectious rhythms and generations of singalong memories to One Drop.

One of the most recognisable voices in UK jungle and dancehall, General Levy is celebrated for his rapid-fire delivery, distinctive vocal style and infectious energy. Rooted in sound system culture, his music connects reggae and ragga with the heavyweight rhythms of jungle.

His landmark collaboration with M-Beat, “Incredible”, reached Number Eight in the UK charts in 1994, becoming an enduring jungle anthem. More than three decades later, its unmistakable vocals continue to bring generations of music lovers together on the dancefloor.

General Levy joins us for the Saturday Lions Den Afterparty inside The Country Park Inn. Expect serious mic mastery, big basslines and plenty of energy as we keep the One Drop vibes flowing into the night.

Reggae Roast founder James Harper brings a lifelong love of Jamaican music, heavyweight selections and authentic sound system spirit to One Drop.

DJ, producer and sound system builder James Harper founded Reggae Roast in 2007, starting with a Sunday session in a Kentish Town pub. Inspired by sounds including Jah Shaka and Aba Shanti, he helped grow those gatherings into a thriving community of artists, selectors and reggae lovers.

Along the way, Reggae Roast have hosted festival takeovers at Glastonbury, Bestival and Outlook, released music featuring celebrated Jamaican artists and supported UB40 on an arena tour. Hull’s own DJ Shepdog was an early supporter, releasing James’s mashups through NICE UP! Records and opening doors to the Big Chill.

At One Drop, James joins the Reggae Roast crew for a celebration of the music and culture that started it all. Expect deep reggae roots, big basslines and a shared love of the dance.

James Harper, the DJ, Producer, Soundman and founder of Reggae Roast.

With more than four decades in reggae, Horseman is an MC and drummer whose career connects some of the genre’s most respected names. Raised in a musical family, with a sound system operator father and singer mother, his love of rhythm started early.

He has worked with Mad Professor, Adrian Sherwood, Scientist and Prince Fatty, who produced his debut solo album Dawn of the Dread in 2014. Behind the drum kit, he has played with artists including Gregory Isaacs, Sugar Minott, Barrington Levy and John Holt.

Joining the Reggae Roast crew at One Drop, Horseman brings his distinctive voice, playful delivery and years of stage experience to the mic. Expect personality, rhythm and plenty of energy beside the Humber Bridge.

A veteran of UK reggae, Horseman brings unmistakable vocals, lyrical flair and decades of sound system experience to One Drop with Reggae Roast

Raised in St Mary, Jamaica, Mr Williamz first stepped up to the microphone aged just eight. His distinctive delivery and witty lyricism connect roots reggae and dancehall with jungle and drum & bass, carrying his sound system upbringing into every performance.

He has recorded and performed with artists including Chronixx, Damian Marley and Major Lazer, while his collaborations with Shy FX showcase his versatility across genres. He also made his acting debut in Yardie, directed by Idris Elba.

Joining the Reggae Roast crew at One Drop, expect commanding mic skills, infectious energy and authentic dancehall spirit. Get ready for a lively session beside the Humber Bridge.

The Specials Ltd bring the sound, spirit and energy of The Specials to life in a passionate live tribute to one of Britain’s most influential bands. Celebrating the songs that helped define the 2 Tone movement, their shows bring together lifelong fans and a new generation discovering the music.

Their repertoire includes favourites such as “Gangsters”, “Too Much Too Young”, “Ghost Town” and “Rat Race”, alongside cherished album tracks. With faithful arrangements and lively performances, they capture the excitement that made these songs such an enduring part of British ska culture.

The Specials Ltd

Celebrating the music of The Specials with infectious ska rhythms, faithful live performances and timeless 2 Tone anthems that get everyone moving.

Formed in 2017, Xodus bring together experienced musicians from Birmingham and the surrounding area to celebrate the music of Bob Marley & The Wailers. Their seven-piece live show puts audience participation at its heart, inviting everyone to sing, dance and share in the music.

Their repertoire spans much-loved classics including “Buffalo Soldier”, “Is This Love”, “Waiting in Vain” and “I Shot the Sheriff”, alongside deeper cuts such as “Rebel Music” and “Forever Loving Jah”. It’s a celebration for devoted Marley fans and anyone discovering these timeless songs for the first time.

The Sole Bouncers deliver a lively celebration of ska, bringing a big sound and an even bigger appetite for getting audiences moving. Their repertoire spans traditional ska and 2 Tone, bringing different generations of music lovers together.

Their shows are all about dancing, singing along and sharing a good time. Having taken their show to festival stages including Tribfest and Skamouth, they know how to turn a crowd into a dancefloor.

Bringing traditional ska and 2 Tone together for an energetic live celebration packed with infectious rhythms, singalong favourites and plenty of skanking.

Tempo 2000, also known as T2K, are the duo of Corey Tennant from Coventry and Stuart Marlow from Birmingham. Performing together since 1999, they have made Tenerife their home, entertaining audiences across the island’s bars and live music venues.

Their versatile repertoire brings together reggae, ska, soul and R&B, alongside influences from hip-hop and beyond. Mixing covers with original material, T2K bring years of performing experience and a love of getting people involved to their shows.

Joining us at One Drop, Tempo 2000 bring a taste of Tenerife’s party atmosphere to the Humber. Expect familiar favourites, plenty of dancing and warm festival vibes to share with your favourite people.

The AC30s celebrate the rich sounds of Jamaican ska, rocksteady and reggae, with a passion for staying true to the original recordings. This experienced seven-piece band combines much-loved classics with original material, bringing warmth, rhythm and plenty of dancing to their live shows.

Their repertoire draws on artists including Prince Buster, The Skatalites, John Holt, Ken Boothe, Alton Ellis and Toots & The Maytals. The band have also backed celebrated performers including Susan Cadogan, Carroll Thompson, Stranger Cole and Derrick Morgan, giving them a close connection to the music they love.

Strictly UB40 celebrate the music of one of Britain’s most influential reggae bands. Their full live show explores UB40’s extensive catalogue, from the early sounds of Signing Off to the beloved Labour of Love albums and the international hits of Promises and Lies.

The band’s musicians bring experience performing alongside artists including Steel Pulse, The Specials and The Selecter. Their dedication to recreating UB40’s sound has also earned praise from the late Brian Travers, UB40’s founding saxophonist.

Celebrating the unmistakable sound of UB40 with faithful live performances, timeless reggae favourites and big singalong moments to bring every generation together.

Kingston bring a homegrown Hull flavour to One Drop, combining vocals and live saxophone in an upbeat celebration of reggae and ska. Their repertoire spans ska and 2 Tone classics alongside the much-loved sounds of UB40, with plenty of opportunities to sing along.

Built around familiar tunes and lively performances, their show moves between relaxed reggae grooves and the irresistible bounce of ska. It’s music made for getting together, letting go and enjoying a dance with friends.

Kingston

Hull’s own reggae and ska duo, blending lively vocals, live saxophone and familiar favourites for a celebration full of local flavour and energy.

With over 25 years behind the decks, Dr Kitch’s musical passion is firmly rooted in Jamaican reggae. Inspired and encouraged by local sound systems Sound and Pressure and Funky Wormhole, he had the opportunity to play the reggae room at Cleethorpes Pier for Toots and the Maytals. That experience helped inspire the step towards building Shack Shaker as a full-stack sound system.

The unmistakable orange stacks of Shack Shaker bring vinyl selections, Jamaican rhythms and carefully crafted sound to life, with Dr Kitch at the controls.

Raised in London, Chopper Dave began building sound systems at just 14 years old. Over 40 years later, his passion for building, listening and refining remains at the heart of Trojan International.

Alongside him is his son Terry, an essential part of the team who handles the heavy work and steps up behind the decks. Influenced by drum & bass and jungle, Terry brings his own musical perspective to a partnership built on family, dedication and a shared love of sound system culture.

For Dave, it’s also about passing that passion on, with the hope that Terry will one day take the reins and carry Trojan International into its next chapter.

Fronted by Chopper Dave, Trojan International brings over four decades of sound system experience and a tireless pursuit of the perfect sound.

DJ Sugar Kane brings together reggae and ska in sets made for dancing. Her selections celebrate the warmth of Jamaican rhythms, serving up familiar favourites, infectious grooves and plenty of good vibrations.

Joining us for Friday’s Lions Den Afterparty inside The Country Park Inn, she’ll help keep the One Drop celebrations flowing after the outdoor stages finish. Expect sweet melodies, irresistible rhythms and plenty of reasons to stay on the dancefloor.
